In this behind-the-scenes post, I reflect on what gear, food, and planning made our stay at Majestic Oak smoother — and what we regretted forgetting.
Things we’re glad we brought:
- Hammock and lightweight chairs (shade + comfort)
- Portable grill grate and a Dutch oven
- Board games, a “rain box,” and craft kits
- Pet supplies (extra leash, waste bags, portable water bowl)
- Good walking shoes for older folks
Things we regret forgetting:
- Extra tarps for shade over picnic table
- A collapsible wagon to haul gear
- Spare extension cords
- Simple first-aid kit items (blister moleskin, insect repellent)
I also include a suggested packing checklist (divided by adults, kids, pets) so readers traveling with families, seniors, or pets can use it.
