One day, we loaded up our cooler and headed out from Majestic Oak to explore Rockport Beach — Texas’s first Blue Wave beach. Calm waters, toddler-friendly wading, picnic shelters, and playgrounds made it perfect for our youngest kiddos.

Later, we went to the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge (a local highlight) for birdwatching. We were lucky to see migrating whooping cranes — a magical moment. Majestic Oak’s proximity makes such trips easy.

We also strolled through downtown Rockport: art galleries, local shops selling seashell crafts, and then we ate lunch at a small seafood taco stand (fresh fish tacos!). After that, the grandparents relaxed on a bench by the waterfront while the kids and I collected shells.

On the drive back, we stopped at a local grocery and picked up shrimp (caught that morning) to grill back at camp with a simple lemon-garlic butter sauce.
