One midday afternoon, when the heat peaked, I slipped down to the sparkling swimming pool and hot tub at Majestic Oak. The pool area was clean, with loungers under umbrellas, and the hot tub was a soothing refuge after a day in the sun.
I floated for a while, letting my brain settle. Nearby, kids played “splash tag.” Seniors dipped their feet or sat at the pool’s shallow edge and chatted. Pet-owners rotated turns: someone stayed with the dogs, someone went swimming.
I brought along my kindle, sipped iced tea, listened to lull waves of laughter and water. After, I changed and joined a communal cornhole game on the lawn, chatting and laughing over light competition. Sometimes in vacations, doing nothing is the best thing.
