In this behind-the-scenes post, I reflect on what gear, food, and planning made our stay at Majestic Oak smoother — and what we regretted forgetting.

Things we’re glad we brought:

  • Hammock and lightweight chairs (shade + comfort)
  • Portable grill grate and a Dutch oven
  • Board games, a “rain box,” and craft kits
  • Pet supplies (extra leash, waste bags, portable water bowl)
  • Good walking shoes for older folks

Things we regret forgetting:

  • Extra tarps for shade over picnic table
  • A collapsible wagon to haul gear
  • Spare extension cords
  • Simple first-aid kit items (blister moleskin, insect repellent)

I also include a suggested packing checklist (divided by adults, kids, pets) so readers traveling with families, seniors, or pets can use it.
