One morning, I organized a small nature journaling session for the kids (ages 6–12). We walked a loop around the resort, stopping at shady oaks where each kid sketched a leaf, an insect, or a bird. Then we returned to camp and made “leaf rubbings” using paper and crayons.
Meanwhile, grandparents sat with herbal tea in a shaded spot and chatted. The kids passed around their sketches and showed off their work. It was simple but meaningful — a quiet memory builder.
At lunchtime, I made turkey & avocado wraps (tortilla, sliced turkey, avocado, lettuce, mayo) and a big fruit salad. Later we headed to the dog park and shared leftover wraps with folks there, chatting about where they were from and trade tip ideas.
