One day, our crew rented a small boat and went out on Aransas Bay for a half-day excursion. We cast lines for redfish, trout, and flounder. The grandparents relaxed onboard, reading and listening to waves, while kids helped net fish and count bait.
We stopped near a quiet sandbar and had a picnic — sandwiches, chips, watermelon — drifting in shallow water. The kids swam in waist-deep water, tossing seaweed and giggling.
Late in the afternoon, we returned to shore and grilled the day’s catch back at camp (fish fillets with lemon butter and herbs). The smell filled the site, and neighbors drifted by to chat. Fishing in Rockport is a highlight for many visitors. Majestic Oaks Resort –
After dinner, we swapped fishing stories around a fire pit, watching stars reflect off the leaves overhead.
