In this post I share how we structured our vacation so that kids, parents, and grandparents all got time doing what they enjoy — without exhaustion:
- Morning: Coffee, gentle walk, maybe kayak or birding.
- Midday: Family excursion (beach, town, museum) or quiet rest.
- Afternoon: Free time — kids may nap or play, seniors rest, pets roam Bark Park.
- Evening: Communal dinner, campfire, games, or hot tub.
For one night, we had “theme night”: taco night. I prepared (in RV) ground beef or black beans, tortillas, fixings (cheese, lettuce, salsa). The grandkids set the table, grandparents told stories about their childhood vacations, and the dogs lay nearby. After dinner, we played a family trivia game under oak-shaded lights.
This rhythm gave enjoyment without exhaustion — key for multi-generational travel.
